Epidurals are a very common phobia. You can use gas and air during the procedure, which will help you to relax. You won’t be able to see the needle and will have gotten lots of local anaesthetic to make you comfy. There’s also the distraction of your contractions so most women are surprised at how well they cope. Don’t worry if you do feel a bit woozy. The midwife/ anaesthetist will make sure you are able to lie down if you need to.
