We also make it easy for you and your patients by delivering our services on one accessible and convenient platform, and through our passionate and engaging team of qualified, experienced experts.
The Baby Academy was founded by three like-minded individuals, Susan Hogan, Brian McGovern, and Tom McGovern, who have all seen and experienced firsthand how empowering education can be for people. They share a combined vision to improve the health and development of all parents and babies, wherever they may be, through access to the very best education and resources. They saw the opportunity in perinatal education and are passionate about providing excellence in education and support for expectant and new parents. They use their combined experience and expertise to ensure this is done in the most accessible, convenient, and engaging way possible for everyone.
Sue currently manages the Parent Education Department in a large maternity hospital. She is also involved in the development of a standardized Pregnancy Education Program – soon to be shared with expectant parents. With a Masters in Leadership, and a focus on Digitalising Parent Education Sue was excited to co-found The Baby Academy. Sue is extremely humbled by the sheer number of families The Baby Academy has supported to date. She is grateful that The Baby Academy has provided a platform for expectant parents and new families to easily access up-to-date, evidence-based education from qualified Healthcare Professionals in such a convenient and accessible way.
Sue explains that her main drive is “Supporting new families-helping them to feel confident and in control during their pregnancy, their birth and as they grow as a family unit.”
Brian has been deeply involved in education for over 12 years, initially starting as an educator before moving into a management role. Alongside education, Brian is involved in a number of social initiatives and has a deep passion for ensuring perinatal education is accessible to all.

Tom has had a deep passion for education since an early age. In 2019, Tom co-founded The Baby Academy to revolutionise maternity and perinatal education and support worldwide through its unique evidence-based content and inspirational educators.

At The Baby Academy it is our mission to ensure perinatal education is accessible to all new families, regardless of their socio-economic situation. You may have patients who may not be able to afford our paid services. We will ensure they get free access, via our All-Families Programme. This programme will enable you to offer easy access to those who may genuinely not otherwise be able to access good quality pre and post natal education and support.

Paediatric Nurse
Maeve is a Paediatric Nurse specialist with almost a decade of experience across some of the UK’s biggest trusts. Most recently she has specialised in Plastic Surgery where she primarily cares for children who have encountered a traumatic injury requiring surgery. Prior to her time in Plastic Surgery, Maeve spent many years working in Paediatric Cardiology both in High Dependency and Intensive Care units caring for children pre and post-cardiac surgery. Alongside her main nursing role, Maeve has taught aspiring nurses in her role as a Visiting Nurse Lecturer. It was during this time that she realised her love for teaching which she has carried through her career and now to The Baby Academy where she hopes to empower parents to feel confident and safe in their new but most exciting role as parents.
Chief Education Officer and Co-Founder at The Baby Academy
Sue is Co-Founder of The Baby Academy, Midwife, Anteantal Instructor and a busy Mom of two. With over 15 years’ experience Sue has worked in all areas of Midwifery such as Birthing Suite, Antenatal wards, Postnatal wards and currently manages The Antenatal Education Department in a large Maternity Hospital.

Ghislaine is a senior midwife with the UK Emergency Medical Team and currently works in clinical education. Ghislaine completed her midwifery training in 2002 at the Florence Nightingale Institute of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London and has worked continuously since then, gaining a wealth of experience in all aspects of maternity care. She has a great interest in antenatal education and loves working with prospective parents to help prepare them for the incredible experience of childbirth.

Ellie has 9 years’ experience as a midwife including antenatal, labour, postnatal care and antenatal education. She has worked extensively with young parents delivering all aspects of midwifery with the caseload model of care and the Family Nurse Partnership programme. Her main passion lies in empowering women to be confident in their ability to grow and care for their babies. Ellie currently works with vulnerable families in a large London teaching hospital.
Midwife and Antenatal Instructor
Anne has experience working in all aspects of midwifery with specialist interest in homebirth’s. Anne works in a busy UK teaching hospital as a Caseload Midwife, providing continuity of care to vulnerable women and their families. Anne’s passions lies in teaching and parent education and believes that knowledge is the key to empowerment.
Midwife and Antenatal Instructor
Laura brings to The Baby Academy almost a decade experience as a Midwife and has experience working in all aspects of Midwifery. Laura has worked on the labour ward, postnatal ward, birth centre and in the community with young parents and vulnerable women. Laura has also spent 3 years working in Dubai on both a labour ward and in the community supporting families with their babies up to 18 months old.

Sophie is an experienced midwife, having worked in all areas of maternity care, in addition to clinical trials and maternity research. Sophie has worked with families from all walks of life and an exotic range of countries. She is passionate about educating and empowering new parents, in line with the latest evidence.
Midwife and Antenatal Instructor
Suyai is an Independent Midwife who loves working within a continuity of carer model, looking after women and families from early pregnancy, through their labour and birth and the postnatal period. She is passionate about providing evidence-based, client-centred care and supporting people to feel empowered and confident through their birthing journey, whatever the setting. She has lived, worked and travelled all over the world and has supported birth in many different countries, including a year working with the Amish in Pennsylvania, so has a good grasp of the global perspective and working with clients from different cultural backgrounds. She knows the difference a good antenatal education can make and she loves teaching and sharing her knowledge, skills, experience and passion with pregnant women and expectant families.

Louise has been a midwife for over 13 years. She has worked in all areas of midwifery including as a community midwife. She really enjoys helping families through their journey of pregnancy and beyond, being their advocate and professional friend. She is particularly passionate about ensuring families receive evidence-based information to ensure they are able to make an informed decision about the care they receive. Louise is a mum of two lovely boys and a fur baby.

Lauren started her midwifery journey in 2008 and has worked in all areas of midwifery. She is a registered midwife, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), antenatal and hypnobirthing teacher. Lauren is a proud mama to two awesome little ones and a shining star in the sky. Lauren has had the privilege of teaching hundreds of expectant parents, lending a voice of passion and knowledge surrounding pregnancy, birth, infant feeding, and transition into early parenthood. She wants to ensure families feel supported, confident and empowered to make decisions that are right for them, setting the foundations for an informed and positive experience.
Midwife, Antenatal and Hypnobirthing Instructor
Emily is an experienced senior midwife and a proud mum to 3 beautiful young children of her own! She has provided all aspects of midwifery care including antenatal, labour and postnatal care, and currently works on the midwifery-led birth centre in a busy UK hospital.
Emily is currently studying Advanced Clinical Skills and Tongue Tie Management at Masters level which will enable her to offer further support to parents and babies experiencing feeding challenges after birth. She holds diplomas in hypnobirthing, aromatherapy, baby massage and cognitive behavioural therapy and has a passion for empowering expectant parents to realise the strength and power of their bodies during pregnancy and labour.
Emily believes that antenatal education is a key component to preparing for a positive birth experience, and loves teaching all things bump, baby and beyond!
Midwife and Antenatal Instructor
Faye has nearly 10 years’ experience as a midwife working in all the areas of maternity, supporting hundreds of families throughout the journey of pregnancy, labour and birth. Faye achieved her Masters qualification in Advanced Midwifery Practice and now mentors student midwives at universities across the UK to become skilled, empathic and passionate midwives. Faye’s goal is to support parents by empowering them, with the knowledge and confidence to help them make choices that are right for their family.
Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Rebecca is a mum of 4 beautiful children as well as an experienced midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She loves supporting families transition to their new life together with their new baby or babies. Rebecca is passionate about antenatal education and giving new families the information they need to make their own informed choices to get them off to the best start. She is privileged to share her extensive knowledge and expertise as a mum, midwife and IBCLC teaching at the Baby Academy.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Kay has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for almost a decade and brings her experience of almost 30 years of Midwifery to The Baby Academy. Kay works in a busy NHS hospital as the Infant feeding lead. She provides evidence based feeding support and antenatal education for parents and is deeply passionate about supporting parents to feed their babies. Kay has also worked for over 10 years as Senior Midwife in a birthing centre.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Ros has been a midwife for 12 years and qualified as a LEARCC Breastfeeding Specialist in 2014, then as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) later that year. Her qualifications led her to a role as the Infant Feeding Lead Midwife for one of the UK’s busiest NHS hospitals. Currently she works privately and voluntarily as an IBCLC, as a guest lecturer for medical students in their Lactation module and as a business consultant training employers how to support their pregnant and breastfeeding staff. Ros is passionate about sharing evidence based information to help parents make choices to protect the health of them and their future generations.
She is also managing director of her own business and a dedicated mum to her 4 gorgeous children.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Registered Nurse
Lizzie is an experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and has been a qualified Midwife for over a decade. She has worked in the NHS since 2008 in numerous roles as a Nurse, Midwife, Infant Feeding Specialist Midwife and Specialist Public Health Nurse. All of which adds to her being able to offer holistic and in-depth breastfeeding support. Lizzie’s main role at the moment is being a mum to her two gorgeous children. She also works privately as a Lactation Consultation for Baby Hive which she co-founded, and for the NHS as a Health Visitor. Lizzie cares deeply about giving families compassionate care, practical support and comprehensive information to support families in their individual breastfeeding journey.
Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor)
After qualifying as a nurse almost a decade ago, Anna has worked in a variety of settings, including a busy emergency department and as a school nurse. Once she realised that her true passion was supporting families and promoting the health and wellbeing of 0-5 year olds, Anna trained as a health
visitor. With her passion for teaching and background in emergency nursing, she loves sharing her knowledge and providing evidence based information about injury prevention and health promotion. Anna’s aim is to empower parents to be confident in their intuition and equip them with
the knowledge to keep their babies and children healthy and safe.
Pediatric Nurse
Gemma is a Paediatric Nurse with many years of experience working in one of the UK’s leading Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Units where she primarily cared for children undergoing heart surgeries and transplants. After discovering her passion for teaching during her time in Intensive Care, Gemma moved to community work. She works as a Senior Nurse delivering clinical training and undertaking assessments of Nurses and Healthcare Assistants to deliver high standard care to children with complex health needs in their own homes, instead of them being in hospital. Gemma enjoys empowering people with skills and knowledge to ensure their babies and children are kept safe. She strives to break down her teaching into simple, relatable pieces of information so that it can be easily understood and remembered.
Pediatric Nurse
Fiona is a Senior Children’s Nurse and works as Head of Nursing for Women’s & Children’s Health at one of the UK’s biggest hospitals. She trained as an adult and children’s nurse, working in a variety of areas: specialising in children’s intensive care. Fiona has a degree in Child Health, a Masters in Advanced Practice, and a Masters in Health Research. She brings her huge wealth of knowledge and experience to The Baby Academy.
Paediatric Nurse
Alliey has worked in numerous environments over the past decade as a Paediatric Nurse. She has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that she is keen to share with others. She has worked on a high dependency ward, medical and surgical wards, an assessment unit, and most recently is working in a busy Emergency Department at a teaching hospital. She is extremely passionate about teaching others emergency first aid, as well as sharing knowledge and advice on how accidents can be prevented.
Perinatal Mental Health Midwife
Maritsa has been on her midwifery journey for over 10 years. She has worked for the NHS in all different aspects of midwifery care with many years of experience on the antenatal and postnatal ward as well as core labour ward. Maritsa advocates for women's and family's rights and has spent a long time working with vulnerable women. Another passion of hers is perinatal mental health and safeguarding. She has completed her MSc dissertation exploring mental health services for women and families. She looks forward to working with new and expectant parents through their pregnancy journey.
Registered Nurse and Sleep Consultant
Melissa is a Registered Nurse and Certified Sleep Consultant with over a decade's worth of experience. She has worked in a variety of settings including intensive care, cancer services and now nurse education. After having her own children Melissa found her true passion was supporting families to feel more rested. She loves sharing her knowledge so that parents can feel empowered and confident about the decisions they make around their infants' sleep.
